Have you heard the FABULOUS news?! Matt and Abi Compton are adopting a baby. Jeremy and I have been friends with these precious people for almost 10 years. First, Matt and I were RA’s together in the dorms at Midwestern and became fast friends. Abi pledged my sorority (Gamma Phi Beta), and we became really close friends over the years as our boyfriends played rugby together. We have shared so many crazy, fun, and special memories together.
Who knew 10 years later that those sorority sisters would both be married to our crazy rugby playing husbands and adopting babies? God is so good to have intertwined our roads together so closely. The bond we feel with these friends is unlike any other… which is why I am SO, SO, SO excited to share this news with you and virtually beg for you to help them! I hope you will consider joining us in our efforts to help our dear friends bring home their precious baby!
If you followed our adoption story with Elliot, then you know that typically domestic infant adoption costs anywhere between $25,000 to $40,000, including the home study, counseling for potential birth parents and adoptive parents, medical expenses, agency fees and foster care, if needed. Matt and Abi have found a great agency in Dallas that they are very excited about working with and feel confident that the money they give to the agency will be put to good use!
Their estimated adoption costs will be somewhere in the ballpark listed above ... and then not to mention all of the baby stuff (car seat, formula, clothes, diapers, etc) that they will need on top of the adoption costs. If you know sweet Abi, don’t you think she will be the cutest mini-van driving momma that is out there? Oooh I can’t wait to see her be a mom!
With that in mind, we are officially helping Matt and Abi launch their first adoption fundraiser. The awesome company that Abi works for (Strategic Government Resources) has purchased a beautiful, custom made, wooden tree of life (similar to the one in the picture below) from Totally Salinda's Etsy shop. Salinda has agreed to send them the bottom part with the baby's name and birthday after the baby is born. As for the tree and leaves, they should be headed to their house very soon!
Each leaf is "for sale" for a donation of any amount… okay, but let’s be honest… adoption is expensive, and there is no medical insurance to cover the bulk of the expenses, so let’s be Matt and Abi’s insurance… I am begging you to be generous! Yes, $5 will get you a leaf, but so will $25 or $300 or WHATEVER generous amount you are able to give. There is nothing more precious than the new life that this money is going help bring into their sweet family. When you donate, we will add your name to a leaf. The tree will hang in the baby's room and be a constant reminder of the people who helped play a part in bringing new life into their family.
If you'd like to have your name on a leaf, you can send a donation to "buy a leaf" that will go towards the adoption costs and your name will be added to the tree. Since the donations will be going directly to Matt and Abi, they will not be tax deductible. Thanks in advance for your support! We are all thrilled to share this journey with you!
